Job Description Summary

Working under minimal supervision assists the EHS Training and Outreach Manager with the development, implementation, and management of health and safety training programs as required by University policy and environmental, health, and safety regulatory agencies, and supports essential functions of the EHS Office.

Job Description

Essential Functions:
  • Support Environmental Health and Safety administrative operations with special projects, marketing, recordkeeping, events, and communications.
  • Manage the administration of the EHS training program to meet departmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Upload 300 and 300A data from Human Resources as required by OSHA.
  • Maintain and update the University Chemical Inventory System.
  • Support the Fire and Life Safety Team with data collection, data entry, and reporting.
  • Experience working and communicating with diverse groups across all levels of the organization.
  • Upholds the principles of inclusiveness, diversity, dialogue, collegiality, respect, knowledge, integrity, learning, awareness, and responsiveness.
  • Follows all University and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • High school or GED with 3-5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication (superior grammar, composition, editing, and proofreading) skills; strong interpersonal skills; professional demeanor; exceptional attention to detail.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; WordPress/Website management, Google Suite Applications, Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, and various social media platforms; knowledge of ERP software preferred. Ability to adjust to new and changing computer systems and to update skills continually.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a variety of professionals, both internally and externally on time-sensitive and regulatory matters.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively and develop relationships with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Knowledge of applicable environmental and safety regulations and guidelines established by Federal, State, and Local Governing Authorities such as North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, North Carolina Department of Labor and Forsyth County Department of Environmental Assistance and Protection.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
