Direct Care Worker
DIRECT CARE WORKER
Reports To: PAS Supervisor(s)
Essential Functions:
1. Provide essential personal assistant services, such as bathing, dressing, and
bowel/bladder management, transferring from bed to wheelchair, meal preparation,
light housekeeping and other tasks as requested by the consumer, or directed by
supervisor
2. Ability to lift, bend and perform other physical tasks as directed by the consumer or
supervisor
3. Ability to travel short distances, as needed
4. Ability to work a varied schedule, including evening and weekends
5. Ability to be punctual and dependable
6. Ability to be respectful of all individuals for whom you work, both in the community and
in the office itself
Qualifications:
1. Must be 18 years of age or older
2. Must possess basic math, reading, and writing skills
3. Must possess a valid social security number
4. Must be willing to submit to a criminal record check, child abuse clearance, and FBI
Fingerprinting-- and must pass Criminal, Child Abuse, and FBI fingerprint clearances,
according to the DPW regulations
5. Must demonstrate the capability to perform health maintenance activities required by
the consumer and/or specified by the consumer’s personal support plan-- or be willing
to receive training in performance of health maintenance activity
6. Must have the required skills to perform personal assistant services specified in the
consumer’s plan
7. Must support the Independent Living Philosophy
