The Virginia Tech Foundation was established in 1948 to receive, manage, and disburse private gifts in support of Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech was founded in 1872 and offers 215 programs to over 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
The Foundation has an opening for a full-time Accountant. This position is responsible for fixed asset accounting for the Foundation and its subsidiaries; ensures all assets, livestock, and vintage properties are properly tagged and photographed; maintains fixed asset system, Sage Fixed Assets; monthly reconciliations of Sage Fixed Assets system to general ledger; maintains and reviews all policies and procedures concerning fixed assets; conducts annual inventory of fixed assets and livestock; ensures policies are followed for all Gifts-in-Kind and coordinates logistics of accepting or disposing of non-real properties; various other monthly reports including Sales and Use Tax and assists with various other duties within the accounting department including approving daily cash receipts and journal entries.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting; thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential (extensive experience with Excel required); Ellucian Banner Finance experience; Sage Fixed Assets experience preferred; familiarity with data analytics using business intelligence tools such as MicroStrategy, Tableau, etc. preferred; ability to perform high volume of very detailed transactions; ability to work well with others and communicate effectively.
Normal beginning salary is Pay Band 4 and includes a highly competitive benefits package.
