UX Designer
Job Description
Business and Management Systems (BAMS) is a team of individuals who works collaboratively to support the business systems, information technology, and user needs of over 20 administrative departments at Virginia Tech. The User Experience Designer is a wage position assisting the BAMS team and reporting to the Assistant Director of User Experience Design.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assess needs of our users and collaboratively develop strategies for meeting identified needs
• Assist in research, testing, and development of online technology tools
• Work collaboratively with design and development teams to implement solutions
• Design and communicate user-friendly visualizations of technical solutions (wireframes, graphics,
content writing, process flows, etc)
Required Qualifications
• Experience with Adobe Creative suite (InDesign, Illustrator, XD, etc.)
• Experience with SharePoint, Office 365 programs (Microsoft Teams, Planner, etc.)
• Experience in graphic design, rapid prototyping, user testing
• Ability to understand user perspective and identify needs
• Ability to clearly communicate technical solutions to non-technical users
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong user focus and attentive to detail
• Naturally curious, love for problem solving, and ability to work independently
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly through self-paced research
• Responsible, trustworthy, and dependable
• Available for hourly remote work between 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday
• Ability and desire to work and learn in a fast pace IT/Administrative environment
