Special Events Coordinator
Job Description
The Special Events Coordinator will assist with strategy and execution of stewardship activities, including but not limited to donor recognition, events, and experiences. This position will report to the Director of Stewardship and Events for Championship Resources and will work cross-functionally to accomplish assigned tasks. This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of assigned customer acquisition and stewardship events from planning to execution.
Specific responsibilities of the Special Events Coordinator include:
Managing benefit-related projects, with guidance from the Director, including coordinating customer events and exclusive experiences, planning new member and annual membership deliverables, and planning donor recognition activities
Assisting the Director of Stewardship and Events for Championship Resources in building a year-round stewardship plan while actively managing the execution from start to finish
Managing local Hokie Club relationships and assisting with day-to-day execution of the Hokie Club Rep program, collaborating with the Assistant Director for Campaign Growth
Collaborating with the Premium Seating Operations Coordinator to develop an annual premium seating stewardship and communications plan
The Championship Resources team is responsible for fundraising and revenue generation efforts in support of Virginia Tech athletic programs and student-athlete scholarships
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or related field
Demonstrated experience in customer/client stewardship or special events coordination, preferably in a collegiate, non-profit, or professional sports setting
Excellent communication skills
Demonstrated strong organizational and project management skills
Ability to balance multiple priorities and solve problems independently
Demonstrated creativity, and strategic-thinking skills with a willingness to take initiative and learn
Occasional night and weekend work required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with donor database systems; preferably Paciolan or Blackbaud AIMS
Demonstrated experience with engaging people during events as well as in less formal interactions with donors, customers, and university or executive-level leadership
Basic understanding of fundraising and/or donor lifecycle concepts
Experience with volunteer management
