Incumbent will fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal roofing, flashing and building facade flashings.
Work may involve any of the following:
Setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal;
Shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using hammer;
Operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts;
Inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces.
Incumbent will also assist masons at times performing building facade repairs and erecting and dismantling scaffold.
Considerable experience with the methods, practices, materials and equipment used for sheet metal fabrication for roofing, flashing for building facades and metal coping covers.
Must be able to perform heavy manual labor, including safely moving and handling greater than 100 pounds; climbing and working from elevated work stations such as ladders and scaffolds; working for long periods of time sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, pushing/pulling; and working in all types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
Ability to communicate effectively, work as an effective team member, and receive and execute instructions from the immediate supervisor and/or lead worker.
May be required to work additional hours/shifts to meet the needs of the department.
This is a designated emergency personnel position.
Previous experience erecting/dismantling scaffolding.
Slate and metal roofing installation and repair experience.

Climbing and working from elevated workstations such as ladders and scaffolds; working for long periods of time sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, pushing/pulling; and working in all types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
Repetitive motion through use of tools and/or keyboarding.
Must be able to wear a respirator.
Must have an acceptable and safe driving record.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
Work hours are normally Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., however, during periods of inclement weather, emergency situations, or for special projects, may work a modified schedule and additional hours to meet the needs of the department.
Must be available twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week to provide support during planned events or emergency situations (such as inclement weather) to include being physically on site if deemed necessary.
As situation dictates, must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Must wear employer-provided uniforms as instructed by supervisor.
This position meets the criteria for issuance of a mobile communication device (such as radio, cell-phone, I-pad, I-pod, pager, etc.). Devices issued are the responsibility of the employee and are to be returned in satisfactory condition upon separation of employment. Devices are to be used according to supervisor instruction and according to relevant policies.
