Job Description
The Recruitment & Retention Manager will serve as a full-time administrative staff member in the Undergraduate Programs Office in the Pamplin College of Business. The dual student recruiting/retention mission of this position entails:
-Meeting and preferably exceeding overall student recruitment targets across all Pamplin majors set by the Dean of the college and the university,
-Increasing the percentage of underrepresented, under-served, and out-of-state student populations
-Increasing the retention of students in Pamplin,
-Increasing the retention of underrepresented, under-served, and out-of-state student populations, especially those in the Pamplin scholarship programs, and
-Supporting all aspects of student recruiting and retention programs.
To accomplish these goals, the Recruitment & Retention Manager will:
-Work with Pamplin’s Director of Recruitment & Retention with all event and program management,
-Work on various recruitment and retention programs,
-Maintain relationships with pipeline organizations, high school contacts, and community college contacts.
-Provide leadership to current mentoring programs and future retention programs, and
-Supervise and provide leadership to 50% of the work performed by the Recruitment Coordinator
The position will be divided as follows:
-Student retention programs: 50%
-New student recruiting: 40%
-Administrative and other special projects represent the remaining: 10%.
The Recruitment & Retention Manager will report to the Director of Recruitment & Retention.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or significant relevant experience. This individual must possess a successful track record of exceeding targets and goals on a deadline and be able to work independently. Previous experience in working with diverse populations in a diverse environment is essential. Candidates must have experience that supports exceptional interpersonal, technology, presentation, and communication skills. The individual must possess a service-oriented attitude and enjoy interaction with people. The position requires flexibility to work some evenings and weekends, and periodic travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous work experience in the areas of sales, admissions, recruitment, and/or event management is considered advantageous. Previous work in managing mentoring programs is also considered advantageous. Experience in new program development is highly preferred. Other important traits include professionalism, organization, project management, effective time management, data analysis, initiative, and attention to detail. Candidates who can adapt to changing environments and are flexible would be considered competitive.
