Research Technician
Job Description
A full-time Research Technician position is available after September, 2021 in the laboratory of Dr. Jia-Ray Yu, located at the Virginia Tech research facilities in the newly established Research & Innovation Campus of Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC. The primary role of this position includes laboratory organization, technical assistance for wet lab based experiments, and maintenance of lab supplies/reagents. The common techniques used in lab include mammalian tissue culture, insect cell culture, protein purification, and basic molecular biology/biochemistry experiments. This position can serve you as the ideal springboard for pursuing advanced graduate education and a possibility of enrolling Virginia Tech graduate programs can be discussed.
Required Qualifications
• BA/BS degree in any of related sciences.
• 2-year experience in a wet-lab based working environment. Experience in laboratory organization is highly preferred.
• Basic laboratory technical skills are required, such as gel electrophoresis, western blot, PCR, cloning, and tissue culture.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and team skills.
• Highly motivated and creative.
