Research Scientist - Senior System Engineer
Job Description
The Fralin Biomedical Research Institute seeks a lead Senior System Engineer to work in a new area of human brain imaging that employs new sensing methodologies (optically pumped magnetometry) and requires the integration of sensing methodologies with computational modeling and other imaging modalities. A demonstrated capacity to engineer working solutions to signal detection problems is necessary and candidates with appropriate experience along these lines should be able to provide evidence of prior work.
Required Qualifications
1. The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent in physics or engineering or the equivalent, and possess hands-on experience with the design, fabrication, and deployment of atomic magnetometers, photometric methods (CCDs, EMCCDs, and their congeners) and statistical approaches to detecting extremely small signals in noisy environments.
2. The candidate should also possess good communication skills and a demonstrated capacity to work and direct diverse groups of investigators
3. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Prior experience working on neurobiological data is a plus, but is not required.
2. Experience with MATLAB or equivalent analysis software is preferred.
