Regional Internship Project Coordinator
Job Description
The Regional Internship Project Coordinator for the Center for Economic and Community Engagement will support the development and implementation of the Region 2 Internship Collaborative project. The selected candidate will support the collaborative’s steering and employer advisory committees, consisting of leaders from education and industry from the New River Valley, Roanoke-Alleghany Highlands, and Lynchburg Regions. This position will develop and lead data collection and analysis of an inventory of regional internship programs. This position is also responsible for organizing and developing the collaborative implementation plan.
This position involves juggling multiple tasks and projects and meeting deadlines. In order to keep everything running seamlessly, the Internship Coordinator should be extremely organized, capable of multitasking and managing time well. This position also requires collaboration at all levels of the partner organizations, working with team members, senior management, and customers to move the project forward and requires excellent communication skills.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in business, education, public affairs or related fields and/or relevant experience.
• Demonstrated professional project/program management experience in conducting complex activities in an academic or industrial environment.
• Strong composition, communication, and organizational skills.
• The willingness to work in a fast-paced flexible research environment.
• Proficiency with current office computer software such as MS Word, PPT, and Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Creative, independent, and highly motivated.
• Strong work habits and the ability to work independently as well as with a team.
Preferred Qualifications
• Awareness and understanding of issues involving human resource management, experiential learning, or workforce development programming.
• Ability to edit and develop communication materials for multiple audiences.
