Job Description
Perform work of moderate difficulty. Assists with PC software/hardware and peripherals purchase requests for all library departments and branches. Assists in purchasing for library staff, by filling out electronic order forms, input orders into HokieMart procurement system, sending invoices to purchasing, receiving orders, and updating request tickets. Assists in PC equipment and peripheral surplus for all library departments and branches. Shares on-call support duties at the ITS Help Desk with other staff during scheduled work hours by receiving and resolving requests for help. Creates, updates and organizes purchase order forms for library staff purchases as required by University. Performs routine maintenance inspections on purchased equipment, ensuring that required information is recorded accurately. Maintains, manages, and audits all library groups and listservs - updating, modifying and keeping up-to-date records on two different systems for the library. (Libguides and Google groups/lists). Provides technical support for Chrome River Travel and Expense system and fields travel requests from library staff. Provide clerical and customer service support to the Service Desk unit. Keep track of library wide line of credit accounts such as Blacksburg Hardware, McCoy Auto and Kroger. Fill requests for reimbursements from library staff when appropriate and approved. Maintain P-card access for making travel charges.
Required Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and effective communication abilities
- Familiar with ServiceNow IT Service Management application (4Help) or similar service management application system for maintaining work requests
- Experience in interpreting and explaining policies and procedures to customers
- Experience in a work setting to prioritize and organize work tasks, with attention to detail
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of data communications gained through formal education or by applicable experience with various operating systems
- Knowledge and experience with computer applications in an academic library
- Experience with network applications, word-processing and other office related products
- Familiar with LibGuides directory app, Google Groups and Google sites for maintaining ITS Service desk information on the library intranet
- Must have clerical experience to include maintaining accurate records and files, both paper and electronic
- Experience working with a wide range of people; ability to make independent decisions
- Manage time in order to meet deadlines and respect confidentiality, and ability to prioritize and organize work tasks
- Ability to safely move and handle material weighing up to 25-50 pounds
- Working knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field
- Experience with HokieMart and Banner and/or experience functioning in an automated accounting environment and/or experience with automated purchasing systems
- Familiar with University purchase card policies and procedure
- Experience in Windows-based and Mac OS computer environment and data entry
- Knowledge of VT software/hardware assets inventory and management
- Training and/or experience in computer procurement operations, inventory and maintenance of PC and Macintosh software/hardware, software/hardware installation, diagnostics and repair in an instructional lab setting
- Experience with Google Apps for Education and LibGuides directory app
- Knowledge and experience with the university Chrome River Travel and Expense Management application

Additional Information
Work Schedule of Monday-Friday from 10am-5pm for an average of 30 hours per week. Must be able to work during school breaks and summer hours.
