Job Description
The Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI) seeks a Project Coordinator to join its Arlington, VA operations. Reporting to the Portfolio Director of the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative, the Project Coordinator will assist in executing projects to completion in the areas of partner outreach, research commercialization, and workforce development.
The successful candidate will be part of a high energy team and have the opportunity to connect with and develop long-term strategic partnerships with broad, diverse audiences (faculty, students, corporations, alumni, administrators, etc.) to advance the goals of CCI. The Project Coordinator will learn about new and emerging cyber technologies and work to diversify and develop the economic impact of such technologies in Virginia. Additionally, this project coordinator will assist in developing platforms for industry and the students of Virginia public universities and colleges to connect and close the cybersecurity talent pipeline.
The Project Coordinator will assist with conference planning, setting meetings, creating meeting agendas and minutes; and creating platforms to perform outreach to, and support for, university tech transfer offices, university innovators, and investors; and creating and supporting experiential learning opportunities for students across the Commonwealth. Additionally the Project Coordinator will assist with cybersecurity and technology market analyses to help the Portfolio Director advise on emerging trends in research and opportunities for investment.
This position is located in the Virginia Tech Research Center in Arlington, VA.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or lesser degree with equivalent professional experience or training
- Proven experience in project management
- Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate effectively and interact professionally with a diverse set of constituent groups, including potential students, corporate partners, government agencies, university administrators, and community college representatives
- Excellent communication skills, including public speaking, all forms of correspondence, and writing
- Must demonstrate an ability to set and manage multiple priorities, tasks, and deadlines simultaneously
- Experience planning and/or supporting planning of, large meetings and events
- Experience working cooperatively and collaboratively as a team member or team leader
- Proficiency in office suite tools such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations
