Program Support Technician
Job Description
Acts as primary receptionist for main office. Supports departmental faculty members with typing, editing, copying of highly technical and complex course material and correspondence as well as any committee assignments they may have. Provides guidance to student wage personnel; and serves as the backup to head secretary and/or graduate programs coordinator. Program support includes conveying programmatic information related to policies and procedures. Works with department head, faculty, and office staff in performing ongoing activities of the department. General support encompasses coordination of departmental faculty activities; departmental travel; office supplies; creating spreadsheets; data entry; drafting, proofreading and editing documents; development of marketing materials; assistance with committees; and assistance with event planning of departmental events. Responsible for data analysis and reporting.
Required Qualifications
Previous experience providing administrative support in an academic or professional office environment; experience with computer software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and email; strong organizational skills; ability to work independently while functioning as a team member; strong interpersonal and communications skills for positive interactions with both external and internal clients; managing confidential files and materials; ability to work with detailed information; demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple deadlines while maintaining attention to detail; strong competency in writing, grammar, composition, and proofreading; demonstrated proficiency with software such as MS Word and Excel; experience with Windows Operating System, internet browsers, email programs and scheduling software.
Preferred Qualifications
Higher education coursework demonstrating knowledge of collegiate programs desired; experience supporting higher education academic programs or knowledge of the operations of an academic office is highly desired; knowledge of university policies and procedures; working knowledge of the Banner Student system desired.
