Job Description
The Department of Management in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech seeks applications for one tenure-track full professor position in management to begin August 2022. This search is specifically at a full-professor level, so we are interested in candidates who are full professors or senior associate professors at strong research institutions. Women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. We are open to both micro (such as OB and HR) or macro (such as strategic management and entrepreneurship) areas. Potential for an endowed professorship exists for a candidate with very strong research credentials.
The Department of Management consists of 30 full-time faculty with an impressive range of leading-edge research and teaching expertise across the field of management. Our current faculty have published very recently in top journals, including Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Organization Science, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Journal of Business Venturing, and Academy of Management Annals.
The accolades received by the Department of Management and its research and instructional programs in recent years include # 25 ranking in the Princeton Review's list of top undergraduate programs in entrepreneurship and the top award (tied with Texas A&M) from the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers for exceptional contributions in entrepreneurship research. Our current doctoral students have papers accepted in elite journals before they go to the job market. Our recognition and reputation have risen and continue to rise in many ways.

The Pamplin College of Business offers majors in management, accounting and information systems, business information technology, finance, hospitality and tourism management, and marketing. The Department of Management is an active contributor to many of the college’s programs such as the part-time MBA, EMBA, online MBA programs; the Master’s of Information Technology program; and the Executive Ph.D. program. A number of programs are conducted in the Northern Virginia/metropolitan Washington, D.C. area.
The Pamplin College of Business, in conjunction with the College of Engineering and College of Science, has begun construction on a four-building complex known as the Global Business and Analytics Complex. Required Qualifications
Candidates should have: (1) a doctorate in Management or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited or similar school; (2) strong program of scholarly research with recent publications in elite management journals and evidence of working with and mentoring doctoral students and junior faculty; and (3) instructional capabilities at the undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral levels.
Preferred Qualifications
(1)Experience as a mentor to junior faculty and doctoral students, (2) Overlap of research interests with those of our current faculty in the micro or macro areas (3) Demonstrated teaching effectiveness at masters and Ph.D. levels.
