Pre-Award Associate / Senior Pre Award Associate
Job Description
The Ted and Karyn Hume Center for National Security and Technology has an opening for a Pre Award Associate or Senior Pre Award Associate. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration of grants for the center’s three labs: The Electronic Systems Lab, the Aerospace and Ocean Systems Lab and the Intelligent Systems Lab. The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Managers, Lab Directors, and other personnel reviewing negotiating proposals prior to deadlines advising and assisting faculty in the preparation of proposals while ensuring compliance with university and sponsor policies, procedures and requirements. The Senior Pre Award Associate will serve as a departmental liaison between Hume and the Office of Sponsored Programs. The ideal candidate will possess initiative and the ability to work independently but consult with appropriate parties as needed. They will be able to problem solve and maintain professional composure while working under pressure of internal and external deadlines, utilize problem solving skills and excellent customer service skills to work collaboratively and effectively with faculty, staff, students, and sponsors. They must be able to function effectively and independently in a fast moving environment subject to internal and external pressure and frequent interruptions. Given the nature of the research conducted and the requirements from the federal sponsor, the candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management or related field with demonstrated work experience. An Associate's degree with significant relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
2. Familiarity with bookkeeping/ accounting practices and/or budgeting.
3. Demonstrated experience with federal and nonfederal grants and/or contract regulations.
4. Given the nature of the research conducted and the requirements from the federal sponsor,
the candidate must be a US citizen.
Senior Pre Award Required Qualifications:
5. Experience and/ or demonstrated knowledge of federal and non federal regulations and guidelines, cost principals, uniform administrative requirements for grants and audits of states, local governments, and nonprofit organization.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Project administration and/or project management experience preferably in a Research setting.
2. Knowledge of university accounting practices and procedures.
3. Demonstrated experience working with faculty to facilitate efficient and research administration and/or funding applications.
4. Given the nature of the research conducted and the requirements from the federal sponsor the candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Senior Pre Award Preferred Qualifications:
5. Demonstrated experience in the submission, management and or negotiation of complex contracts.

Salary Information
Commensurate with experience.
