Job Description
The laboratory of Dr. Yassine Sassi at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech Carilion located on the Health Sciences and Technology campus in Roanoke (Virginia) https://fbri.vtc.vt.edu/ is seeking two dynamic and creative postdoctoral researchers to join the team.
Applicants should hold a PhD or MD/PhD degree with less than four years of postdoctoral experience and have research interests in cardiac and/or pulmonary diseases. Candidates should be enthusiastic about collaborative and interdisciplinary research, be highly motivated to develop as an independent scientist, have a strong work ethic and demonstrate excellent scientific and communication skills. The candidate is expected to participate in research grant preparations, manuscript writing and presentation of research results at international conferences. Expertise in the following areas is advantageous: in vivo models of cardiovascular and/or pulmonary diseases, mammalian cell culture, molecular biology and histology.

The Sassi lab is focused on studying the role of coding and non-coding RNAs and cyclic nucleotides pathways in cardiac health and disease, pulmonary arterial hypertension and pulmonary fibrosis. The Sassi lab aims to identify new therapeutic approaches for cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. The laboratory utilizes multiple approaches involving cell and molecular biology, and animal models of cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases.
Required Qualifications
• Ph.D. or MD/Phd degree in life sciences. PhD or MD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
• Strong publication record.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and team skills.
• Highly motivated and creative.
