Job Description

The Laboratory of Neurotrauma and Repair at Virginia Tech (part of te Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine) is looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate in Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology. The successful candidate will work on an interdisciplinary research project focused on murine models of traumatic brain injury and peripheral innate immune regulation. Qualified candidates will be expected to work in a team environment investigating immune-glial-endothelial cell interactions in regulating trauma-mediated tissue damage and recovery. Our multidisciplinary approach requires an in-depth understanding of the biochemical, molecular and cellular neuroinflammation in CNS injury models. Candidates will work alongside additional team members in the VT-School of Neuroscience, Fralin Life Science Institute and The Center for Regenerative Medicine.

Required Qualifications

- PhD in Molecular Biology, Cellular Neurobiology or Biochemistry. Degree must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of the appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining
- Experience in Animal surgery and brain tissue processing, flow cytometry, RNA expression analysis, stereology and extensive histopathology and confocal imaging.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Multi-photon imaging, qPCR, Western blot analysis, single cell microbead isolation, and tissue culture
