Post Doc: Accel Pavement Test
Job Description
As a fully competent Postdoctoral Associate in all conventional aspects of the subject matter of the functional area of the assignments, plans and conducts work requiring judgment with in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Duties and responsibilities: Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed tasks of the identified phase as part of major projects. Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features. Work requires a broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a good knowledge of and practices of related specialties. Supporting the organization and execution of advance asphalt material characterization testing, design of accelerated pavement testing (APT) experiments, management of the facility, and monitoring the performance of experimental pavement sections; preparing technical proposals; writing technical reports and papers; supervising and support graduate student work; and preparing and delivering technical presentations.
Directions given and received: Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.
Required Qualifications
PhD degree and experience in civil engineering or related field. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
Demonstrated research experience on designing and evaluating asphalt mixes.
Demonstrated research experience on the organization and execution of advance asphalt material characterization testing.
Demonstrated experience on design of experiments.
Practical knowledge of advanced statistical analysis tools.
Strong record of peer-reviewed publications.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in designing and conducting accelerated pavement testing (APT) experiments.
Experience in using advanced asphalt material characterization equipment.
Practical knowledge of programing software.
Working knowledge of pavement analysis and design software.
Experience with research projects that require multi-disciplinary collaboration.
Experience interacting with graduate students
