Plant Operations Manager
Job Description
Reporting to the Associate Director of Utilities and Power Plant, the Plant Operations Manager supervises operations employees in the operation of coal, gas and oil fired boilers and auxiliary equipment. Responsible for overall steam turbine generator operation and associated plant equipment including pollution control systems, monitoring, and data collection systems. Supervises subordinate supervisors and staff in water testing analysis and ensures proper water chemistry is maintained. Sets guidelines for plant safety and housekeeping, trains and schedules personnel, works with plant instrument and maintenance personnel, directs employees in energy management, and plans operational budget. The work schedule is 7:00a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but subject to change as necessary. Must maintain call-in status and work overtime as required.
Required Qualifications
Considerable experience in operation of industrial sized coal, oil and gas fired high pressure power boilers.
Experience with flue gas scrubbers and baghouse operations as applied to solid fuel fired boilers.
Knowledge of support equipment such as demineralizer plant, RO’s, attemperator, and/or pressure reducing stations required for the production of super-heated steam as applied to the co-generation field.
Extensive training or experience in boiler water treatment and analysis.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Spreadsheets.
Previous supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree relating to industrial power and/or steam production, process instrumentation or equivalent experience.
Experience with PLC and DCS control systems.
Experience with emissions monitoring equipment, scrubbers and baghouse operations.
American Society of Power Engineers Power Plant Chief License.
