Job Description

Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC, located in Roanoke, VA is seeking a part time (32hour/ week with benefits) Office Assistant/ Receptionist. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide reception support for the Executive Director and Administrative offices by greeting visitors, answering phones, scheduling meetings, filing, maintaining orderly office supplies, and distributing mail. In addition to this primary responsibility this position will also provide assistance to the human resources area of FBRI by maintaining employee directories, maintaining monthly leave records, supporting the Sr. HR Manager in completion of new hire paperwork, wage timecard entry, and other duties as assigned. The Office Assistant/ Receptionist will also provide backup support to other administrative staff as needed for vacations and other leave. This position requires someone with a commitment to customer service, attention to detail, and time management skills.

Required Qualifications

Professional office experience in an academic, medical or business environment; Demonstrated experience with computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Demonstrated experience in working with confidential information. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and seamlessly with team members and independently on tasks. Experience with payroll, human resource, and/ or employee onboarding required.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of university and state policies and procedures. Experience with HokieMart and Banner.
