Laboratory Support Srvcs Tech
Job Description
Supports the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine research, teaching, TRACSS and clinical areas by cleaning and sterilizing items, producing distilled and deionized water, and decontaminating infectious materials. Position will be housed in multiple lab facilities around campus. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Dean of Research & Graduate Studies, and position will be reviewed and may be changed at any time based on the requirements of the CVM programs and missions.
Required Qualifications
Previous experience in a lab environment; ability to keep accurate records and to interpret verbal and written instructions; ability to interact with faculty, staff and students; ability to follow standard operating procedures for cleaning and decontamination; ability to recognize equipment problems and notify repair service in the absence of the supervisor; ability to work independently or with a team at different locations; ability to organize workload and adapt to schedule changes.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience cleaning laboratory glassware using commercial washers; previous experience sterilizing and decontaminating items using sterilizers; working knowledge of academic research labs; working knowledge of aseptic techniques is beneficial.
