Laboratory Specialist
Job Description
The Kojima Lab is looking for a responsible and well-organized laboratory technician who can assist independent research. A successful applicant will be involved in a research project to understand the function of a non-coding gene, and employ molecular and cellular biology techniques, including mammalian cell culture, CRISPR/Cas9 technology, RT-qPCR, and chromatin Immunoprecipitation. Depending on progress, the spectrum of techniques may expand to immunoblotting, bioinformatics, and other techniques of molecular/cellular biology. Additional responsibilities include the maintenance of laboratory inventory, stocks, records, databases, purchasing, as well as the general organization of the laboratory. Required Qualifications
- One or more years of experience in an academic lab
- Excellent organizational and accurate records-keeping skills
- Basic computer literacy
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Experience in basic molecular biology techniques (PCR, DNA cloning, RT-qPCR, immunoblotting etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in biology, biochemistry or a related discipline
- Experience in CRISPR/Cas9, chromatin Immunoprecipitation, or any other biochemical techniques
- Experience in mammalian cell culture
