Lab & Research Technician
Job Description
The Traumatic Nerve Technologies Laboratory within the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanics is seeking a highly motivated laboratory technician who will contribute to the research objectives of the laboratory by coordinating, facilitating and conducting research focused on brain injury and potential treatments, which may enhance recovery from injury. Animal models will be used to conduct experiments to determine the cognitive and pathological response to trauma. Various brain assessments will be conducted following exposure to differing levels of impact. Brain injury will be assessed using histological techniques, MRI and specialized microscopy measurements. Additional work will be done to evaluate levels of specific biomarkers in biofluids order to understand the injury and recovery patterns. Some of the responsibilities include:
• Coordinate and direct projects relating to the research project
• Enthusiastic team player
• Skilled at working with other professionals in a close-knit, dynamic group
• Experience with animals models
• Knowledge in using microscopes
• Experience in tissue sectioning and histological staining.
• Insightful data analysis/statistics skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability train and manage undergraduate students
• Strong ownership/responsiveness to issues
Required Qualifications
Competency in basic laboratory skills and laboratory safety. Demonstrated ability to work productively in a collaborative environment. Previous experience with animal models. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Effective verbal and written English communication skills. Applicant must be eligible to pursue a DoD security clearance (US Citizen, Green Card Holder, or Permanent Resident)
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Science, at time of employment, with experience with animal models.

$44,000 - $48,000
