Instrument Maker
Job Description
Instrument Maker provides instructional and research support for the manufacturing processes laboratory in Industrial and Systems Engineering. This position instructs students in proper procedures for operating various types of manufacturing equipment, stressing machine capabilities as well as safety regulations; prepares equipment, materials, tooling, and paperwork prior to start of student lab sessions; maintains laboratory instruments and equipment; and assists with research and development of new laboratory experiments.
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree in related field, or equivalent training and/or experience as a machinist or in manufacturing technology.| Demonstrated skills in machining procedures and manufacturing operations.| Excellent communications skills and the ability to instruct students from various backgrounds.| Must be able to safely move and handle items weighing up to 75 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Machine shop experience.| Knowledge of programming and the operation of coordinate measurement machines and computer controlled milling machines and/or lathes.| Experience training machine operators.
Pay Band
4
Salary Information
Commensurate with experience.
