Job Description
The incumbent will teach horticulture courses including: Greenhouse Management (Fall Semester), Herbaceous Plant Materials (Fall Semester), Plant Propagation (Spring Semester), Greenhouse Crops Production and Marketing (Spring Semester), and Indoor Plants (Fall and Spring Semesters). The incumbent is expected to utilize creative educational tools such social and digital media in addition to traditional classroom and lab-based instruction. The incumbent will also be expected to incorporate significant experiential learning activities in the courses.
Required Qualifications
Candidates for this position must have: 1) a minimum of a MS in horticulture, plant science or a closely related discipline, 2) evidence of strong communication skills, as demonstrated through teaching, outreach activities, and/or other communication activities, 3) the ability to develop instructional content, encompassing experiential learning, online delivery, and traditional classroom instruction, and 4) a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates that have 1) Ph.D. in horticulture, plant science or a closely related discipline 2) taught specific courses listed and 3) have industry or professional experiences related to the specified courses. Other preferred skills include demonstrated proficiency in social and digital media, computer applications, youth communication, and external support for teaching programs.
