Gameday Operations Engineer
The Gameday Operations Engineer will assist the engineer-in-charge for multiple broadcast control room facilities and athletic venue fiber and cable infrastructure used for ACC Network and HokieVision productions. Provide broadcast engineering input and technical support of live events for ACC Network broadcast productions and in-house Big Screens/LED productions. Engineer-in-charge for any HokieVision-only shows that do not include ACCN broadcasts. Maintain equipment inventory, including computer equipment, software and hardware throughout the video production facilities and venues. Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on audio/visual equipment located in athletics offices, athletic venues and broadcast control rooms. Assist with outside remote broadcast partners for Athletics venues. • Assist with set-up, operation and strike of remote and studio broadcast productions. Assist in training student-engineers. Execute related duties as assigned. Daily schedule will be dependent on home sporting events and broadcasting/in-venue show duties.
Work-related experience including digital/linear level live remote or studio broadcast productions as Engineer.
Ability to work outside of typical business hours as needed: including but not limited to evenings, weekends, and holidays; sometimes on a last minute basis.
Experience with video switchers, audio mixers, graphics platforms, LED displays and components, video instant replay systems, broadcast cameras, fiber, coax, and audio cable termination.
Experience with remote camera control.
Working knowledge of fiber transmission protocols.
Exhibit strong work ethic, ability to work in a team setting, and have a desire to work in collegiate athletics.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
Working knowledge of technical facilities, broadcast A/V and IT production equipment and systems, including experience and exposure to file-based video recorders, production switchers, routing systems, intercoms, RF, cameras, audio mixers, transmission and encoding equipment as well as computer networks and subsystems including Danté, MADI, and AES67 industry trends.
Experience with remote camera control.
Ability to troubleshoot and fix LED issues and digital signage, sometimes on a last minute basis.
Knowledge of ESPN transmission guidelines.
Knowledge of NCAA and ACC rules and regulations.
Knowledge of technology and industry trends.
Commensurate with experience.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check as well as documentation of COVID-19 vaccination.
