Fiscal Technician
Job Description
Fiscal Technician needed to provide financial and operational support for the School of Architecture + Design located in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies. Responsibilities include assisting with purchasing and accounts payable, process and distribute monthly financial reports for VT and VT Foundation funds, monthly reconciling of school and foundation fund accounts, reconciliation and distribution of program activity tracking sheets to various faculty and program directors, payroll reconciliation, manage A+D fixed assets, maintain accounting files, process all A+D travel preapprovals and reimbursements, and assist with various financial and administrative tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent related education and/or experience in business management, accounting or a related field.
Demonstrated expertise in financial principles and procedures.
Accounting/bookkeeping experience such as accounts payable/accounts receivable, auditing and budgeting.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
Ability to research, investigate, analyze and evaluate data.
The ability to work independently, prioritize work, solve problems.
The ability to interact and communicate comfortably with students, staff and faculty.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Demonstrated strong organization skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated record of successfully managing project timelines, deliverables, documentation, and budgets.
Experience in governmental and/or fund accounting.
Previous experience or knowledge working in an academic office.
Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
Demonstrated proficiency with financial and human resources information systems such as Hokie Mart, MicroStrategy, Banner, TimeClock Plus, HR, Fixed Assets and Chrome River travel system.
