Job Description

Fiscal Technician performs fiscal responsibilities to include managing funds and providing
summaries/projections; classifying and posting transactions internally to computer journals and ledgers; monitoring assigned budgets to ensure monies available are accurate; using HokieMart and corporate credit card for purchases; using the Chrome River system for Travel, reconciling statements with orders; processing approved orders; assisting with Google Forms; tracking of all Banner encumbrances for proper release of funds; reconciling accounts monthly; reviewing and processing vendor invoices, and direct payments; observing all University and internal School of Education established procedures.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge of basic accounting principles; knowledge of University policies and procedures related to the fiscal process; knowledge of Banner, Chrome River, NI&S or equivalent systems; experience working with database and spreadsheet programs; knowledge of Excel and Word; strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; detail oriented; able to reconcile and detect errors in financial reports; able to work independently and prioritize workload, and work within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with VT Banner Finance System, NI&S, MicroStrategyFinance Reporting, and procedures related to fiscal operations (purchasing, travel, and accounts payable).
