The College of Engineering Dean's Office is seeking a fiscal technician to fill an integral part of the Finance Team. The position will assist with fiscal operations ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures; process orders/payments using university or foundation funds within prompt pay guidelines along with travel pre-approvals/authorizations and travel reimbursements; perform monthly university and foundation reconciliations, investigate and resolve discrepancies as needed, file paperwork; maintain large detailed spreadsheets tracking expenses for multiple functions within the office; perform all duties in accordance with university guidelines in a professional, efficient and friendly manner; ensure confidentiality of departmental and personnel documentation is maintained at all times; use good judgement and analytical skills as needed in making decisions and solving problems.
Experience in bookkeeping/accounting; strong experience with MS Excel and MS Word; strong customer service, communication and organizational skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment; able to maintain a professional demeanor and be a strong team member with ability to back up other functions within the office.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related business field or equivalent combination of training and experience; experience providing fiscal support in an academic environment; knowledge of University policies, procedures and forms; experience with Banner, HokieMart, DEPART, Enterprise Systems Web Reports, MicroStrategy, Leave Entry and Reporting System, TimeClock Plus, CASHNet, and ChromeRiver for the Purchasing card and Travel.

The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check as well as documentation of COVID-19 vaccination.
