Fiscal Tech/Special Proj Coord
Job Description
Evaluate gift documents and record gifts and pledges of all types to the university reflecting the wishes of our donors and according to the university, CASE guidelines, and IRS regulations, as well as reconcile gift fund accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness. Ensure that donor records are maintained in a complete and accurate manner, properly using the varied coding schemes as necessary to reflect the unique specifics of each gift or pledge so that high quality information is available to all authorized parties in the university and the VT Foundation. Handle all confidential donor information as mandated. Be responsive to queries and requests from departmental, university, and foundation users, as well as donors as appropriate. This position will be specifically responsible for managing the gift accounting components of special projects related to new technologies and coordinating the activities related to each project. Participate in broader Gift Accounting responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
Previous data entry and bookkeeping/accounting experience. || Demonstrated customer service experience in a high volume professional environment. || Demonstrated experience with current office computer software such as electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheets and relational database applications. || Demonstrated experience handling confidential information. || Outstanding communication skills. || Demonstrated capacity to produce business correspondence, professional presentation materials, responses to requests for information and input, and other documents and electronic communications. || Ability to work independently as a productive member of a team, under pressure of deadlines/timelines. || Flexibility to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. || Ability of working in a collaborative manner within a diverse environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in accounting or related field. || Deposit reconciliation experience. || Experience in a higher education institution. || Previous experience with large databases. || Experience with gift accounting procedures or development. || Demonstrated experience creating correspondences without templates. || Previous experience supervising work flow processes.
