Facility Manager
Job Description
The Facilities Manager will report to the Associate Director for Facility Development and Technical Operations and will have the unique opportunity to help shape Fralin Biomedical Research Institute as it continues to grow in the future. Ensure coordinated activities with relevant parties including architects/engineers, contractors, vendors and service providers. Purchase, receive, locate and maintain all core laboratory equipment and office furnishings. Ensure appropriate maintenance and service contracts are in place for all core equipment and relevant systems.
The incumbent will assist the Associate Director with the following:
• Work with Principal Investigators and new recruits to develop scopes of work for renovations and additions
• Evaluate, select and interface with design professionals and construction contractors
• Coordinate renovations with current occupants, tenants and landlords
• Coordinate and direct facilities personnel regarding work orders
• Maintain fleet vehicles
• Monitor cost and performance of various services and maintenance agreements and recommend changes as needed
• Assist in asset and furniture/furnishings management
• Support Associate Director of Facility Development Technical Operations in on-call duties
Required Qualifications
• 5-10 years construction, architecture or engineering management experience
• BS in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or equivalent experience.
• Professional Engineer or Registered Architect preferred
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Additional qualifications include interpersonal and communications skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with diverse collaborative teams and various business and research unit personnel, demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage workload, meet objectives and deadlines, make independent decisions and creatively solve problems.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Engineering
• Demonstrated knowledge of research equipment and facility’s needs.
• Working knowledge of and experience with Federal and State permitting and safety regulations.
Salary Information
Commensurate with experience.
