Facilities Assistant
Job Description
Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Assistant helps oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the Division of Information Technology’s facilities and buildings. This position is responsible for responding promptly to maintenance requests and complaints within the Division of Information Technology. Duties include performing minor maintenance (unclogging sinks, replacing light bulbs, changing batteries, replacing stained ceiling tiles, etc.) and addressing complaints (unpleasant smells, housekeeping issues, etc.). The Facilities Assistant will conduct and maintain building inventories, and put together furniture. This position will also be responsible for maintaining maintenance requests in the IT Facilities ServiceNow request portal and assisting the Director of IT Business & Financial Affairs in managing fixed assets, and ensures that additions, disposals, transfers, surplus, and home use equipment is monitored and duly recorded with appropriate signatures.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in building maintenance, custodial work, facilities maintenance, or light construction
- Must be dependable and able to communicate with employees as well as document maintenance actions
- Ability to use basic computer software such as email and facilities request forms
- Excellent communication skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and have a background check with favorable results
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with ServiceNow for facilities requests
