Director of Student Accounts
Job Description
The Office of University Bursar is seeking a dynamic progressive leader with focus on delivering premier customer service and innovative ideas and solutions for the position of Director of Student Accounts. Responsibilities assigned to this position include but are not limited to managing and maintaining the accounts receivable system, management of hosted electronic billing and payment services, payment plans, third party contracts, delivery of customer service, working effectively with other student service areas, and training, developing, and leading personnel assigned to accounts receivable. Requires knowledge of policies and procedures across operations of the Bursar’s Office and understanding of key student areas such as Financial Aid, Registration, Housing and Dining, Health Center and Veterans services.
Required Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field with significant experience in progressively responsible roles in accounting and receivables management.
•Experience managing staff and operations providing customer service in a complex environment.
•Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, ERP, and function specific databases and demonstrated ability to use Oracle, Microsoft Access or SAS query tools to gather and analyze information from a large receivable database.
•Experience optimizing workflow and business processes.
Preferred Qualifications
•Master's degree in accounting or finance or a related field.
•Previous experience working in a higher education environment.
•Professional experience in student billing or accounting related area in a supervisory, administrative, or managerial capacity
•Knowledge and understanding of Federal and State regulations including but not limited to disbursement of Title IV Financial Aid, FERPA, and IRS required filings related to 1098T.
•Previous experience using Ellucian Banner.
•Certified Public Accountant or other accounting certification.
