Dining Services Salary Pool
Job Description
These positions are not available to Virginia Tech students. VT students need to apply to the Dining Services “VT Student” Pool.
The Dining Services Salary Pool opens/closes June 1, October 1 and February 1. You are responsible for reapplying each quarter to ensure your application is active.
The Dining Services Salary applicant pool provides food service to customers of the university dining centers with a high level of customer satisfaction. Ensures a clean, safe and sanitary environment for employees and customers. Shifts vary by position and dining center and may include early morning, day, evening, night, and weekend hours; and may include some overtime and call-in work. Work area assignment may be changed as necessary.
Positions in the following areas are frequently available: Service Associate, Lead Associate, Service Associate / Cashier, Line Cook, Lead Cook, Pre-Prep Assistant, Pre-Prep Assistant Senior, Utilities Assistant and Utilities Assistant Senior.
Required Qualifications
All positions require excellent customer service and communication skills; some knowledge of general safety rules and sanitation in food handling. Food production positions require some knowledge of large quantity cooking; ability to read and follow standard recipes and procedures, operate all general and commercial kitchen equipment, and basic math. Lead Associate and Cashier positions require the ability to handle money, operate a cash register, and complete related reports with a high degree of accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a food service facility is helpful.

Salary Information
Starting salary $25,480 based on position
Additional Information
Schedule: Varied to include nights, weekends, some holidays and as needed for high customer service.
Note: Most positions are calendar year (12 month), but some may be offered as academic year (9 month), or other similar schedules to accommodate workloads.
