Development Associate
Job Description
Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) for Inclusion and Diversity, and the Director of Alumni Relations for Diversity and Inclusion (DARDI), the Development Associate will promote and support strategic engagement, giving, and stewardship activities with underrepresented and multicultural alumni. Areas of oversight include helping coordinate and staffing events, preparing materials for and recording minutes of board meetings, coordinating constituent visits, staff travel, stakeholder correspondence, marketing and communications, office management. The Division of Advancement strives to engage a diverse range of constituents in support of the university’s engagement and fundraising goals.
Core areas of responsibility include administrative oversight of office logistics, scheduling, project/event management, prospect research, portfolio management, data, record keeping, communication, correspondence, fiscal oversight, and supporting other projects as needed. Must be available to work some nights and weekends, in support of events and programming.
Core Responsibilities:
Event/Project Management:
- Help plan, coordinate and oversee logistical arrangements for Inclusion and Diversity programs, meetings, and various “signature” events. Examples include reunions, tailgates; Pride socials, etc.
Administrative Management:
- Fiscal management of all activities, including vendor invoices, travel expenses and reimbursements
Prospect Research/Portfolio Management:
- Prepare donor correspondence, prospect management reports, and portfolios
Required Qualifications
- Experience providing administrative support in a professional environment
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent communication skills
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational abilities
- Experience with event planning and implementation
- Proficient and comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite or similar applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Able to track multiple projects and prioritize competing tasks
- Experience in a higher education
- Exhibits a customer-centered approach when interacting with internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience with the following or similar applications:
- Blackbaud CMS
- SharePoint
- Adobe
- Adobe Photoshop
- InDesign
- Experience managing volunteers
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to adapt in fast-paced situations
- Excellent time management skills
- Adept at working independently and as a member of a team
