Data ReductionistVirginia Tech
The Human Factors research group at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute is currently accepting applications for the part time position of Data Reductionist. The job involves working in our computer labs to analyze digital video collected in various research projects in order to analyze and document driver behavior, road conditions, etc. following detailed protocols.
-Computer proficiency required in office applications, such as Microsoft office.
-Proficiency in English language required.
-Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail for extended periods of time with strong critical thinking skills.
-Must be able to work, with the ability to maintain a regular work schedule and to work independently and manage time effectively.
-Candidates must be able to work at least four shifts (4-hours each) per week during regular business hours (currently 7am-6pm Monday through Friday and 10am-3pm Saturdays) for a total of no less than 16 hours per week. Schedules must be coordinated with supervisor.
-Upon hire, Data Reductionists are required to sign a Confidentiality/NonDisclosure Agreement and complete an online training course in the protection of human research subjects.
-Prior data entry or detail oriented work experience with documented high level of accuracy. -Some college coursework strongly preferred.
-Prior coursework in experimental psychology or engineering and/or experience with research involving human subjects preferred.
Due to project schedules and training requirements, preference is given to individuals who are able to continue working for a year or more.
