Provide direct assistance to users with all aspects of computer operations including technology set-up and disposal, maintenance, problem resolution, and training
Looks for opportunities to enhance existing IT processes and technology by anticipating departmental needs and leveraging emerging technologies.
Configure, update and install desktop and server hardware, software and peripheral equipment. Perform routine software and system updates. Perform non-routine maintenance tasks including problem troubleshooting, research and implementation of improvements to production systems.
Special projects as assigned;
Pursue professional development opportunities to stay current with technologies and issues that will enhance performance and career development; Communicate with a broad range of users about technical topics at a level appropriate for the intended audience; Collaborate with peers to support initiatives which support the university’s mission and strategic plan; Uphold the university competencies of teamwork, maintaining a safe and secure work environment, and diversity commitment.
Create and maintain accurate system and end user documentation
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education OR an equivalent level of training and experience;
Experience with basic system administration tasks in a Windows operating system environment;
Experience providing technical support and guidance in an IT support, help desk or related role;
Demonstrable experience configuring, deploying, and supporting Windows computers;
Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts and best practices;
Ability to demonstrate practical troubleshooting and problem analysis techniques;
Demonstrable skills for and commitment to good customer relationship management;
Experience with infrastructure management software (Microsoft SCCM, IBM BigFix, Kaseya, etc.);
Experience with advanced system administration tools (Microsoft MDT, PowerShell, etc.);
Experience in an Active Directory domain environment (Group Policy, managing security groups, etc.)
Server configuration and support experience, including the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues to resolution;
Experience configuring and maintaining virtualized systems/applications;
Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking and related protocols and services;
Currently hold or willing to obtain relevant industry certification(s) (CompTIA A+/Network+, Microsoft MCP/MCSA, ITIL Foundation v.3, etc.)
Commensurate with experience
