Community Practice/Primary Care Internship
Job Description
The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences in the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech invites applications for a 1-year Primary Care Internship. This is a unique program at the College of Veterinary Medicine preparing the intern for ABVP canine/feline residency or clinical practice. The internship provides training in advanced canine and feline practice to include rotations in community practice, dermatology, spay/neuter surgical training, radiology, and 2 electives of the intern's choice. The internship will provide training and experience with dental, laparoscopic, and numerous surgical procedures in addition to medical case management and wellness care. The intern will have primary case responsibility with faculty mentorship. The intern will also participate in house officer rounds and seminars, and clinical instruction of veterinary students. The emphasis of the program is to provide advanced clinical training to prepare the candidate for American Board of Veterinary Practitioners residency or clinical practice. Internship start date is June 15, 2021 and review of applications will begin in January, 2021 with final notification by April 15, 2021.

Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree by start date.
