Job Description
The Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Case Manager. This position is an integral part of our efforts to support and promote a culture of honesty and integrity. The person in this position will be expected to function with a high level of independence grounded in a thorough understanding of the purpose, policies, and procedures of the Undergraduate Honor System under the direction of the Director of Undergraduate Academic Integrity.
The Case Manager is a member of the Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity staff and often serves as the initial point of contact for honor code cases and must ensure matters are handled in a sensitive, timely, and confidential manner. This position will create and maintain case files for honor code investigations, send out appropriate correspondence to faculty and students, assist in the scheduling of honor code hearing panels and student faculty resolution discussions, as well as ensure proper followup through the duration of a case's life. This position administratively supports professionals and students working within the Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity. This position is 20 hours per week, with the specific hours flexible within business hours. This position is also a 9 month position and functions only during the academic year with summers, May 15th – August 15th, off.
Specific responsibilities of the Case Manager include:
1. Responding to requests and inquiries of students, faculty, and other stakeholders on behalf of the Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity.
2. Processing, management and tracking of all Undergraduate Academic Integrity cases.
3. Representing the Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity at University events.
4. Providing general assistance and support for administrative work related to Undergraduate Academic Integrity.
Required Qualifications
1. High School Diploma
2. Previous administrative and/or customer service experience in an academic or professional office environment.
3. Strong computer skills and the ability and willingness to learn new software.
4. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
5. Strong communication, organizational, management, and interpersonal skills.
6. Proven ability to cultivate positive working relationships and gain the trust and respect of all levels of internal and external constituencies, as well as the ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
7. Ability to organize resources, manage records, and establish priorities.
8. Demonstrated ability to work with sensitive and stressful situations in a professional and confidential manner.
9. Ability to establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships with professionals and students at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a combination of education and experience with employee and/or student conflict management and case management.
2. Demonstrated experience in case management or monitoring a work flow using a database.
3. Demonstrated experience with Banner, HokieSpa and/or other relational databases.
