The Business Support Systems Analyst participates in the assessment and implementation of information technology and decision support solutions for the President, Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer, and Executive VP and Provost senior management areas. The successful candidate will provide technical and non-technical expertise in the creation and maintenance of business systems, the creation of data collection and reporting applications, and transition business applications to cloud technologies. Additionally, position is responsible for assessing the information technology needs of end users, documenting systems, and training users. Solutions are often created using SharePoint and its related add-ons. Development using C# and corresponding .NET technologies are sometimes required.
To accomplish job responsibilities, the Business Support Systems Analyst will work in collaboration with other Business and Management Systems (BAMS) team members to identify and secure the proper equipment, applications, systems, and access to data. This position will implement and maintain systems in accordance with university, state laws, federal laws, policies, and regulations.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Business Support Systems, this position will provide clear, effective and courteous services that advance and support the data management and reporting needs of the supported office. The Business Support Systems Analyst must demonstrate a high degree of initiative and self-sufficiency, and the ability to work effectively individually and as part of group projects and teams. The Business Support Systems Analyst must be an effective communicator with users and other BAMS team members.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience in relational database design, object oriented design concepts, database reporting software, and web design.
Experience working with Microsoft Office SharePoint technologies.
Experience documenting business requirements and system specifications.
Effective working knowledge of business operations (accounting, finance, management concepts)
Effective communication skills in both written and verbal form.
Ability to independently prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field.
Experience with MS SQL Server administration.
Experience in latest versions of Microsoft desktop operating systems and server software. Also, experience in the latest versions of Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience analyzing, designing, and developing business and management information systems and tools for end users.
Experience converting user specifications into functional project requirements.
Experience communicating complex concepts at a level appropriate to the intended audience.
Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously.
Software project management and project delivery experience.
