Virginia Tech's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Business Operations Training Manager. This position reports to the CALS Assistant Director, Business Operations and Compliance. The successful candidate will assist with monitoring Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE)Unit/District offices, Agricultural Research and Extension Centers, and Academic departments for compliance with current policies and procedures. The Business Operations Training Manager will assist or lead in designing, developing and delivering targeted training sessions (classroom, individual, and online) in collaboration with the CALS Assistant Director, Business Operations and Compliance. The position will support the CALS Business Office with analyzing and evaluating VCE, ARECs, and Academic Departments' practices in relation to policies and procedures, identifying areas of improvement, and providing targeted training to ensure compliance, accountability of funds, and continued credibility with stakeholders. In addition, the Business Operations Training Manager will assist in proactively preparing for potential reviews by Virginia Tech Internal Audit or other government agencies as well as investigate and work to resolve or provide guidance on any irregularities and/or audit issues throughout the college. Familiarity with Virginia Tech, federal, and Virginia Cooperative Extension policies and procedures as they relate to fiscal and personnel functions is an essential component of the position. The ability to create and implement training programs for faculty and staff on Virginia Tech's main campus and throughout the Commonwealth is also important.
Bachelor's Degree in related field (Accounting, Management, Public Administration, etc.). Demonstrated experience leading general or compliance related training. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Strong project/time management skills. Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills. Ability to travel.
Master's Degree in related field (MBA, Public Administration, etc). 3+ years of general or compliance related training experience. Knowledge of current Virginia Tech policies and procedures. Knowledge of current Virginia Cooperative Extension policies and procedures. Knowledge of federal policies and procedures for land grant institutions. Experience creating and delivering inperson or online training modules.
