Business Manager - SPIA
Job Description
Manages all aspects of financial and HR management for the School of Public and International Affairs. Financial duties include budget development and monitoring; financial reporting; overseeing purchasing and accounts payable; managing and approving travel budgets, requests, and reimbursements; tracking and auditing fixed asset inventory; payroll reconciliation; and data gathering and preparation of ad hoc financial reports.
HR duties include managing graduate assistantships by developing the GA/GTA budget and allocation plan, approving contracts, and tracking and awarding tuition. Additional HR duties include managing the adjunct staffing plans, summer staffing plan, and Wintermester proposals, by gathering data from program chairs and analyzing enrollment break-even points. Provide assistance with other financial and administrative duties as requested.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience in business with a concentration in accounting.
Previous work experience developing financial reports.
Experience with HR, purchasing, and accounts payable.
Strong computer skills with moderate to advanced proficiency in Excel, and other MS Office programs.
Demonstrated knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting principles and procedures, and payroll and audit procedures.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to audit, reconcile, detect errors, inconsistencies or discrepancies in numeric data; work independently with little supervision; maintain strict confidentiality; and produce work with a high degree of accuracy in a deadline oriented environment and within policy and budgetary limits.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated proficiency with financial and human resources information systems such as Hokiemart, Banner, Microstrategy, Web Reports, Chrome River, Summit, Labor Redistribution System, and/or University Data Commons.
Previous experience managing budgets and coordinating with leadership personnel.
Experience with administration of sponsored research projects and with university fiscal policies and procedures.
