Asst Director Parent & Alumni Relations
Job Description
In coordination with the Director of Parent and Alumni Relations, the Assistant Director of Parent and Alumni Relations leads the planning and implementation of programming and events as part of the strategic engagement and stewardship plan(s) developed by the Student Affairs Advancement team. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, have effective communication and customer-service skills, and be discrete as the position involves planning and executing special events, working with parent and alumni stewardship and donor-related information. The Assistant Director of Parent and Alumni Relations also assumes other leadership and administrative responsibilities as needed to support the Advancement activities of Student Affairs. This position will work collaboratively with the members of Student Affairs and Central Advancement to pursue and promote divisional and institutional priorities related to parent and alumni communications, engagement, and fundraising with a primary focus on engagement.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and related experience in marketing, hospitality, communication or other related fields; experience in event planning, alumni activities and/or educational programming. Ability to professionally interact and collaborate with internal and external constituencies, to include alumni, students, parents, faculty/staff, vendors and other campus and community partners. Experience working with computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel). Must be willing to work evenings/weekends and travel as needed. Must have valid driver’s license. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills. Knowledge of young alumni, student, and parent engagement practices. Significant experience developing effective strategies to foster relationships and engagement. Experience and knowledge of donor stewardship practices. Familiarity with parent relations, alumni relations and/or volunteer programs. Ability to multi-task, work independently, and pay close attention to detail in a fast paced, deadline oriented team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in education, marketing, communication, hospitality or other related fields. Experience working with Blackbaud (AIMS), Adobe, Baseline, Qualtrics and Google.
Experience working in higher education. Knowledge of project management systems.
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
