|The Department of English at Virginia Tech invites applications for an open specialization tenured Associate Professor position in Rhetoric and Professional & Technical Writing to begin August 2020. Responsibilities for the position include research and publication in Rhetoric and Professional & Technical Writing; teaching in our undergraduate Professional & Technical Writing (PTW) Program and our Ph.D. program in Rhetoric & Writing (RW); serving on departmental, college, and university committees; and mentoring and advising students from diverse cultural backgrounds. We encourage candidates whose research, teaching, and/or service has prepared them to meaningfully contribute to social justice, equity, and inclusion efforts at Virginia Tech and in the discipline of Rhetoric & Writing and/or Technical Communication more broadly. The standard teaching load is 2/2.|
Ph.D. in Rhetoric & Writing or a related field; significant research and publication in the field; evidence of successful teaching; experience and/or interest in program administration; and a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion, including experience working with diverse populations.
Graduate student mentoring, interdisciplinary research, and experience securing and managing grants.
