Assistant Director of Recruitment, Student Success, and Career Development
Job Description
The Virginia Tech College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences is seeking applicants for an assistant director of recruitment, student success, and career development. This full-time position will be a key member of the Undergraduate Academic Affairs team in the college, a diverse organization that includes over 4,000 students in nearly 40 majors. The assistant director position is designed to support the continued integration and advancement of recruitment, student success, and career development. The assistant director will work with the recruitment team to implement strategic vision for career development initiatives and recruitment of new freshmen and transfer students. Responsibilities include writing content and designing promotional materials, managing digital advertising, coordinating the college ambassadors, facilitating initiatives for career development, undergraduate research, study abroad, and mentoring, and coordinating recruitment events and daily information sessions.
Required Qualifications
● Master's degree in an applicable field
● Working knowledge of student recruitment and experiential learning
● Experience using a customer relationship management tool to create and deliver
dynamic HTML content, event coordination, and manage data and reports
● Experience with digital advertising and marketing
● Ability to supervise students
● Experience in project management
● Experience in multimedia and print design
● Advanced computer skills, particularly related to new software, data management
systems, and web-based administrative systems; word processing and spreadsheets
● Knowledge of developing content for the web and social media campaigns
● Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
● Ability to meet deadlines and work independently without excessive supervision or
follow-up as well as flexible and creative in finding new solutions and opportunities
to promote the college and meet strategic goals
● Flexibility to work evenings and weekends and the ability to travel, sometimes on
extended trips
● Ability to manage confidential files and materials
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience with search engine optimization (SEO), email and SMS marketing, and
digital advertising creation and placement
● Working knowledge of career development initiatives for undergraduate students
● Previous program management or event coordination
● Significant experience with large relational databases such as Banner, SLATE,
Navigate, and HokieSpa
● Advanced knowledge of university policies and procedures
● Knowledge of liberal arts and human sciences academic programs
● Experience in student recruitment
● Knowledge of video production
● Demonstrated ability using Adobe Suite
