Applications Developer
Job Description
Serve as a focal point in collaborative ventures between areas within the Student Affairs to ensure quality of program, processes, and procedures with a goal of continual improvement and transparency to colleagues, students, and other constituents. |Actively review policies and protocols within Student Affairs and the intersections of departmental activities with other university operations to ensure congruence of policy and practice. Collaborate with working/task groups to suggest and assist in the implementation of changes agreed upon by those involved and/or the approval of senior leadership. |Serve as the technical and process lead for the development of assigned projects within Student Affairs. Serve as a departmental resource for improved process management for service delivery to internal and external customers. Review, suggest, and implement changes to Student Affairs operations. Design and create web applications to improve customer experience as well as internal systems. Coordinate assigned projects from concept to completion. Configure vendor hosted systems, custom reporting/data extracts and support of special user needs. Collaborate with other operational areas and the Students Affairs IT staff to ensure that IT resources (database, web, and systems) are available, secured, and appropriately managed.
Required Qualifications
1.Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and/or equivalent related experience. |2. Experience developing small to medium web applications. |3.Familiarity with LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) systems.|4.Experience with the following technologies:| a.Relational databases | b.Full stack development| c.Version control systems| d.Web frameworks| e.Integrated development environments||5.Familiarity with web accessibility standards such as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines|6.Independent problem solving and troubleshooting skills|7.Thorough understanding of human centered design |8.Familiarity with the software development life cycle|9.Strong communication and personal skills |
Preferred Qualifications
Proven experiences in working with information technology resources for complex business organizations and solving challenging problems related to system security, data loss prevention, identify loss prevention, and network security.|Demonstrable experiences with the following technologies|1.LAMP stack| a.Oracle Linux| b.Apache 2| c.MySQL| d.PHP 5.5+|2.PHP libraries/frameworks such as:| a.CodeIgniter 3+| b.Drupal 7+|3.JavaScript and related libraries/frameworks such as:| a.jQuery| b.Backbone| c.Handlebars|4.Frontend frameworks such as:| a.Bootstrap 3+|5.CSS Preprocessors| a.SASS| b.LESS|6.Android and iOS application development|
