Animal Care Technician
Job Description
The Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a part-time, hourly wage Animal Care Technician. This position is responsible for cleaning, feeding, watering and general husbandry of all animals (primarily farm animals, dogs, cats, and rodents) at the non client animal facility and to maintain clean facilities. Provides support services involving animals for teaching, research and continuing education programs. This position is 30 hours a week. Schedule will currently be Saturday - Wednesday, 8am-2:30pm.
Previous experience handling animals, especially horses, cows, pigs, poultry, dogs, cats, and rodents; Previous experience in animal husbandry; Knowledge of general husbandry and care of animals in a research setting; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to follow detailed procedures and document activities; Must be able to tolerate rabies vaccination(provided by employer); Must be able to safely move and handle up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working in an agricultural or laboratory animal facility; Previous experience with farm and lawn equipment.

Additional Information
The successful Candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check, and the potential for a driving check.
