Alternative Transportation AssistantVirginia Tech
The Alternative Transportation Assistant provides customer service to Alternative Transportation Center patrons, including instructing patrons in bicycle maintenance and repair, answering questions about alternative transportation programs offered by the university, as well as assisting visitors with daily visitor parking permits and staffing the customer service desk. The Assistant is responsible for gathering data and preparing basic promotional material and social media content. In addition, the Assistant performs similar tasks at various campus and community events, such as student orientations, health fairs, etc. The Assistant is also responsible for light custodial work.
Interest in working in bike maintenance
Ability to problem solve
Strong customer service skills, including the ability to resolve customer issues efficiently and tactfully
Willingness to learn new computer programs
Ability to complete documentation and paperwork neatly and accurately
Positive, enthusiastic, and generous energy and communication in all interactions with team members and customers
Willingness to answer phone calls and check messages
Available to work occasional evenings and weekends
The following bike mechanic skills: adjustments, basics of wheel truing, flat tire repair, brake pad replacement, brake cables and housing replacement, shift cables and housing replacement, and adjustment of derailleurs for proper shifting
Demonstrated educational skills
