Ag. Specialist Supervisor
Job Description
The Department of Animal and Poultry Sciences at Virginia Tech is seeking an Agricultural Specialist Supervisor to coordinate animal care activities and contribute to implementation of research protocols, serve as the intermediate between faculty users, Agricultural Program Coordinator and those being supervised. The qualified candidate will also help ensure that research and teaching schedules and protocols for approximately six faculty are maintained efficiently and accurately. Determine and maintain work schedules and assignments of those supervised. This position is housed at the Swine Center.
Required Qualifications
Associate degree with equivalent applicable experience or training, in Animal Science or related field, with considerable background working with research animals; Knowledge of farm operations, equipment, and maintenance is essential; Basic computer skills; Capability of physical activity including lifting up to 50 lb.sacks; valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
B.S. in Animal Science or related field; Work experience in research with supervisory skills; Ability to work effectively across multiple farm users and to balance the diverse needs of the research and teaching faculty users.
