VTTI seeks qualified ambitious research engineers interested in answering complex problems through application of advanced research and development techniques. The candidate should have an aptitude for framing research questions, working with complex novel systems, applying appropriate data analysis techniques, and developing robust solutions. The candidate should be an experienced research engineer, or equivalent, capable of working independently and with multidisciplinary teams to improve transportation safety through cutting-edge research.

We are building effective teams of capable individuals with experience and interests in transportation-related areas such as vehicle dynamics, advanced technologies, automated systems, connected systems, infrastructure technology, vulnerable road users, crash and safety records, data management and analysis, statistics, policy, human factors, psychology, impairment, programming, embedded hardware, sensors, control systems, visibility, experimental design, budgeting, and project management.

Required Qualifications
Masters degree. Candidates with a lesser degree and significant experience in lieu of master’s degree will also be considered.
Demonstrable experience in transportation research or equivlent experience within a related field
Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and within teams
Firm understanding of engineering principles needed to analyze, verify, and interpret work
Preferred Qualifications
Project Management experience, qualified to lead project teams and oversee project schedule, budgets, and deliverables.
Background in data processing and analysis.
Experience with proposal development and strong written skills
Familiarity with automated vehicle systems and associated research protocols
Proficient in data collection, processing, and statistical analysis (e.g., SAS, R, python, etc).
